Brownstone Brass is an NYC based brass quintet made up of professional freelancers and educators looking to push the boundaries of what a traditional Brass Quintet sounds like.

Since their debut recital, “West Side Story and Other New York Classics”, at The Montauk Club in Park Slope, Brooklyn, Brownstone Brass has partnered with the Brooklyn Conservatory of Music to curate and perform a series of children and family programs for events such as the Brooklyn Children’s Museum Classical Music Fair and The Annual Open Streets Music Festival, as well as educational concerts in Brooklyn Public Schools. As they continue to grow as a an ensemble, Brownstone Brass looks forward to pushing their boundaries through varied performances including busking around NYC, continued development of children and family focused programing, commitment to regular, formal performances and recitals, recording projects featuring original works, and more!

Made up of married trumpeters Caitlin Featherstone and Oscar Wiley Thorp, horn player Ser Konvalin, multi faceted trombonist Colin Babcock, and “Tuba Queen” Heather Ewer, this ensemble has a passion for classic brass quintet repertoire, original arrangements and compositions, new music and more. Not to mention having fun while rehearsing and performing in a positive and encouraging environment while spreading their love and passion for music.
